I have visited Kathmandu, Nepal many times and it never fails to surprise in a pleasant way. As a tourist, one can say it is a safe destination with friendly people ready to offer a helping hand. Kathmandu, can be explored by conducted tours, taking the taxi or by getting around on the local ride hailing App PATHAO (download needed) which eliminates the price haggling. Another interesting way to explore Kathmandu and surrounding area is walking around. So put on your walking shoes and see everything at a much slower pace and eating at the local eateries.

With so many new restaurants serving almost everything under the sun the old local eateries still exist serving their traditional delicacy. If you are into it , head to INDRA CHOWK for the Newark snacks like Bara, Chatamari and Yomari to name a few. If you are around Basantpur, DURBAR SQUARE, try the BBQ at Aunty’s Sekuwa. The Buff (Buffalo meat) or Chicken Barbecued with puffed rice is simply great. A few steps away is Narayan Dai Ko MOMO shop ( Buff or Chicken dumplings) with a mild spicy sauce which is a must try.

Staying at The Perch at Naxal was very convenient with easy access to local transportation and many restaurants which allowed us to eat and explore without any trouble.
